ANNETTE CORMIER
LAVAL, QC.
Oil painting is her preferred medium for its sensuality, density, and richness, but she also uses acrylic for the beautiful textures it allows her to create. She further explores encaustic, pastel, ink, and mixed media.
Her creative process begins with an image, a thought, or an observation. The emotion evoked by the color observed or the chosen subject opens a door to a new creation.
Once the idea is firmly rooted, she considers the composition of the painting—sometimes starting with a sketch, but often working directly on the canvas. She primarily uses brushes but often employs a palette knife to complete her works, where realism and abstraction harmoniously coexist.
Comfortably settled in her studio, time ceases to exist for the artist when she faces the canvas. It is there that her pictorial language is expressed through spontaneous gestures, using a palette of vivid colors she particularly loves.
Through her works, the artist reveals glimpses of her travels, life experiences, emotions, and life in all its richness.
