A native of Caraquet, Gabrielle Lambert is a self-taught collage artist who has been active in the visual arts scene since childhood. Fascinated by the objects and aesthetics of women’s fashion from the 1950s and 1960s, she developed an artistic practice inspired by digital collages and the work of artists Miss Me and Stikki Peaches. She officially began her collage practice in 2022.

Her creative process involves collecting images from vintage magazines, which she then sorts by theme and color. Using this visual archive, she envisions different scenarios that she photographs before selecting the final composition. Committed to traditional collage techniques, Gabrielle places great importance on the authenticity and uniqueness of each of her works.

Through her creations, she seeks to construct worlds that are both strange and familiar, where floating images and exaggerated proportions give rise to scenes imbued with mystery. Certain objects, subtly camouflaged in trompe-l’œil, invite the viewer to a second reading and to imagine their own narrative for the work.

FAVA
