Véronique Wade paints what she has spent a lifetime learning: that the depth of a person is always greater than what they show. A self-taught artist based in Caraquet, New Brunswick, she works primarily in acrylic. Her world revolves around the gaze; those eyes that pierce the soul, as a gateway to what words cannot reach. Her journey toward painting is inseparable from her journey toward herself. Years of enduring hardships, losing relationships she cherished, feeling alone on a path few understand, and choosing, time and again, to remain true to herself rather than seek comfort. This journey is what she brings to the canvas. She does not paint to be seen. She paints so that those who look may finally feel understood.
