DAVID CHAMPAGNE
MAISONNETTE, NB.
Originally from the Eastern Townships of Quebec, David Champagne holds a diploma in photography from the Cégep de Matane. He works primarily in the field of documentary photography but is also interested in photomontage—a medium that allows him to transform images from his documentaries into compositions that are at times strange or humorous, and at other times critical and thought-provoking.
Over the years, his work has been supported by various organizations such as the New Brunswick Arts Board, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Quebec Arts Council, and the New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture. He was a finalist for the 2023 Éloizes Awards in the category of Visual Artist of the Year.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with several NGOs, both local and international (Handicap International, CECI, Cyclo Nord-Sud, RIFNB, etc.). A member of the photo collective Hors d’État, he currently lives in the Acadian Peninsula, New Brunswick.
