DIANNE LESVESQUE

DIEPPE, NB.

Dianne Levesque is originally from Dalhousie, New Brunswick, and currently lives in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. A trained teacher, she developed a creative approach in education, often teaching outside the classroom walls to bring her students closer to nature. She lived in Caraquet for several years. Dianne has always had an interest in the arts, particularly theater, and has been involved with the Youth Theater Festival in Acadia. Her years of teaching in British Columbia and Yukon gave her the opportunity to forge close connections with the beauty of landscapes and wildlife.

She has always been interested in photography, and over the years, this interest grew into a passion. Upon retirement, photography became her preferred form of expression. Her photographic approach is grounded in the pursuit of light, contrast, simplicity, and the beauty of nature. She often ventures out in the early morning hours or late at night to experience moments of calm and solitude.

Through her exploration of the ICM technique (Intentional Camera Movement), which involves deliberately moving the camera during exposure while considering exposure time and camera direction, she creates highly interesting artistic effects. Her interest in painting has translated into photography, with camera manipulation opening a whole new world of artistic exploration.

Her first photo series captures moments of solitude and intimacy with the Northern Lights that danced spectacularly all night on May 18, 2024, from Bas-Caraquet to Pokeshaw, offering us a truly remarkable show.

FAVA
